Syracuse, Sicily – Day 1

Finally, I have to talk about Syracuse. Somehow it holds such a special place in my heart. Maybe I had had so many different versions of it in my imaginary world. Maybe I had been looking forward to it for too long …We arrived in Syracuse, Sicily, in an afternoon. The taxi driver dropped us off at the back of the building where we rented our apartment. “Here we are.” I told myself. “Finally!” The apartment we booked was in Ortigia. It was right at the water front with a tiny little balcony. The little balcony was just big enough for two chairs. Still, we appreciated it so much that we enjoyed every sunset there with a glass of Sicily wine. It was such a magical place. The famous Fonte Aretusa was very close to our apartment. The myth behind it is beautiful Nymph Arethusa was trying to escape from the love of Alpheus. Goddess Diana turned her into a spring. Then, Alpheus transformed himself into t a river to join together with the spring forever with Arethusa. The …

Zelens Z Luminous Brightening Serum | Review

Hey lovelies, how’s the week so far? My day started from going to our local shopping mall in very early hours to get few things. Although I was trying to avoid the crowd, unfortunately it was very unsuccessful at all. It took me ages to get in and out. I think it will be my last trip to the mall for this year. If I really must get something, I think I will just go online. Thanks for the internet, so convenient. Anyway, I have a review for you today. If you follow me for a while, you probably know I love Zelens Absolute Face oil. It has been a staple of my skin care routine. I haven’t found anything works better than that. Because of my love to the oil, I decided to try out the Zelens Z luminous Brightening serum. I wanted to see if it works on my skin. I bought the serum after I came back from our trip. I have been using it for about a month now. I can …

So Long, Cyprus

This is going to be my last post about our trip in Cyprus. It was a short stay. I didn’t even get the chance to see north side of the country. Hopefully, we will get to see it again one day. For the last day, we took our rental car on the road again. The destination was Limassol. Limassol is the second largest city in Cyprus, and it is on the southern coast. When we reached the city, we could see many newly built seaside resorts. I have heard it’s one of the most popular destinations in Cyprus. Now, I understand why.  It has beautiful beaches, modern lifestyle and ancient history. The historical part of the city is well preserved. Although it was the end of September, the temperature was still about 28-30 degree. If you ever want a late summer holiday, I think this is the place. Kolossi Castle On the way to Limassol, we stopped at Kolossi Castle. It’s about 14km from Limassol. It was built in 13th century and rebuilt in 15th …

Gift Season

Wow, first day of December 2017. Christmas and New Year are just around the corner. I can’t believe this year is almost gone. Although I don’t believe Christmas is the only time to give gifts to our loved ones, it certainly is the right occasion. I know I am bit late for looking for gifts. Better late than never, eh? Once I started searching for gift ideas, I am overwhelmed with all the sales and promotion out there on the market. I haven’t really decided what to buy, but I have narrowed down some gifts I like to get for my families and probably myself. 😉 Skin care Peter Thomas Roth Mask-A-Holic looks like a good set. Five masks in one package. You get to try everything. I haven’t tried any of their masks. Quite tempted by this one. OMOROVICZA Miracle Facial Oil Set is very good value for money. Only the Miracle Facial oil’s retail price is £75. This set has three products for £80. Last one is Emma Hardie Amazing Face Life and Glow skin Essentials. I love …

Kiko Smart Eyeshadow Palette | Review

Hello world. 🙂 Hope everything is well. It’s a rainy day today. I feel a bit blue. Anyway, let’s talk about makeup. We always need a dash of colour in a rainy day.  As you know, I bought some Kiko products when I was in Italy last month. I have been using their smart eyeshadow palette for few weeks now. The one I bought is 01 Garden rose. Taormina, Sicily

Taromina is breathtakingly beautiful. It’s one of the places that can offer pretty much everything you want for a holiday, view, beach, food, entertainment, nice accommodation and shopping experiences. No wonder Taormina is such a popular travel destination in Sicily. We only planned to spend one night in Taormina. We drove from Syracuse to Taormina. On a side note, we were so impressed by the motorways in Sicily. They are fantastic to drive on. We were a bit worried when we were planning the trip. If you want to travel from one place to another in Sicily, the roads are good. If you want to drive in the old town, that’s a completely different story. To me, it’s nerve-racking because of the extremely narrow streets. There are so much to do in Taormina, beaches, food, shopping and sightseeing. I think I will just talk about two highlights during our visit, the Greek Threatre and Castelmola. Teatro Greco (Greek Threatre) One must-see in Taromina is Teatro Greco (Greek Theatre) from 2nd century A.D., the second largest Greek …

Soft Olive Bread Roll

Happy Friday! How was the week so far? Good or bad, we can relax now.Well, almost. The other day, when I was driving to work, I got all the green lights. Not a single red. I was like “Wow, I have a good feeling that I am gonna have a pretty good day.”  I guess some days we get all the green lights, everything goes the way we plan it. Some days we get all the red. Nothing works. No matter how much effort we put in. Then, all we can do is go with the flow, or just wait with great patience. Sorry for the mumbling. Back to the recipe. This soft bread roll was the result of a mistake. I had something else in mind. However, when I made the dough, I got so distracted that I put way too much butter in it. It was melted butter. Once it’s in, it’s in. Fortunately, the result wasn’t bad at all. I thought why not share. I love everything with olives. The olives filling gives …

Clinique Pure Vitamin C Powder Cleanser | Review

Hey lovely people, how are you doing today? Happy Wednesday! It’s already in the middle of the week, almost the end of November. Can you believe it?! Before I start the review, the product’s name is actually Clinique Fresh Pressed™ Renewing Powder Cleanser with Pure Vitamin C. Very long, eh? 😉 I bought a 28 packets at the airport on the way back to Brisbane.  I have been using it ever since. There are only two packets left now. What they say about the product: It is a “water-activated powder cleanser with fresh Vitamin C to purify, brighten, retexturize“. The powder is activated by adding water. It suits all skin types for daily use. After using it, the skin will instantly has a “awakened, purified, with a refined texture and brighter look“. Cyprus (continued)

Today, I want to take us back to Cyprus again. One cannot visit Cyprus without looking into their ancient history which can be traced back to 10th millennium BC. We probably all know Cyprus is divided into Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot.  This time, we only had time to have a brief visit to few places on the Greek side. After a day at Larnaca, we rented a car and drove to west side of the island. The first stop was Kiti. Angeloktisti Church, Kiti This small church is the one attracted us to Kiti. The church was built in 11th century over the ruins of  an Early Christian basilica. The name of the church means “built by angels” in Greek. The story behind it is ancient Kition moved to Kiti to escape from Arab invasion. They wanted to build a church dedicated to the Virgin. However, one day, the church foundation was moved to a different location overnight. Although the villagers didn’t know why, they decided to change the church location. As a miracle, …

Hair Care When Travel

Hey lovelies, how are you doing? I hope all are well. Let’s talk about hair care today. When we travel, our body is stressed. We don’t always have the product we use daily. We don’t always get a relaxed travel experience. Our body reacts to the changes. Use my recent trip as an example, when we left Australia, it was Spring. We landed in Larnaca at the end of the summer. The temperature was over 30 degree. A week later, we experienced dramatic weather in Varna, Bulgaria. The temperature went from 15ºc to 28ºC. I could only imagine how my body felt confused. So here are some of my ways of taking care of hair when travel or season changes. Wash hair less often I was trying my best to reduce my washing for hair on the trip. Although I didn’t take any dry shampoo with me, I was washing my hair probably 2-3 time a week during the travel time. I also took my favourite hair brush. I love a good hair brush. It …
