Travel Plan

Can you believe it’s almost the end of September. We have had such a busy year, and we really haven’t had much time to travel. Don’t know about next year. I guess we will have to worry about it when it comes.

We are going to China at the end of the year. It will be a very short holiday, but exciting! Since we won’t have a lot of time, the plan is focusing on two cities, Beijing and Shanghai.

I have been to Beijing many times when I was much younger. However, I haven’t visited the city for probably more than 10 years. I kinda miss it a lot lately. It’s time to see the ancient city again.

Great Wall

No one will travel to Beijing without seeing the Great Wall, one of the Wonders of the World. It was built from Qin Dynasty to Ming Dynasty to defend the cities from invaders. The view is always spectacular. Because it will be winter in China, I think we will give up on the idea of seeing the Wild Great Wall.

Forbidden City

It’s located in the centre of Beijing, the largest and well-preserved heritage site in China. It has 980 buildings and more than eight thousand rooms. It was a home for 24 emperors.  Although half of the Forbidden City is not open to the public, there are still a lot to see.

Summer Place

Best preserved imperial garden in the world. It has gardens, temples, lake and pavilions, which represent Chinese philosophy of harmony and garden design. It has played an important role in Chinese history. The garden was designed to have different sectors for different functions, for example, some areas are designed for living and others for relaxation.

We have been to Shanghai before. For me, I would love to spend days with family and friends there and just wander around in the city to see the old and new. Certainly, we wouldn’t miss the opportunities to try authentic delicious Chinese food. 🙂

Do you have any travel plans? I would love to hear all about it.

xx
