NYX Total Control Drop Foundation – Yes or No?

Hello lovely people!

I am sure everyone heard about NYX Total control drop foundation by now. It has been all over the youtube. A lot of youtuber raved about it. There are so many tutorials. I always interested in liquid foundation. I love NYX products too, especially their eyeshadows and eyeliner. When I found out the foundation is available here, I had to try it.

NYX claims that this foundation has coverage from sheer to full. It has velvety and matte finish. You can get more coverage by using more drops. NYX also recommends to use the Total control foundation brush to apply the foundation to achieve “a seriously smooth finish“. There are 24 shades.

Cyclopentasiloxane, Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Propylene Glycol, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Isododecane, Dimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Propylene Carbonate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol. MAY CONTAIN / PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

My experience:

  • Usage: I use 2-3 drops to have sheer to medium coverage.
  • Scent: I don’t think it has any.
  • Texture: Watery, liquidy and buildable.
  • Shade range: 24 shades. I think it has a great range of shade from very light to very dark. I am sure there is a shade for everyone. You can even mix and match. It’s really great!
  • Finish: matte, powdery, chalky.
  • Packaging: Glass bottle with a dropper.
  • Price: 13 ml – AUD 24.95 (WHAT! MAC face and body is only AUD 50.00 for 50ml)

The Verdict:

Actually, my experience with this foundation is quite interesting. I have tried both beauty blender and brush. For the first time, I had velvet and natural looking finish. I was impressed, and I loved it. However, it does not last long. After lunch time, my skin looks chalky and dry. My pigmentation started showing through. I can see the dry patches around my nose and between my eyebrows. Not a pretty look! 😦  Since it’s a liquid foundation, I figured that I could mix it very face cream. I did, and I got the same chalky result.

On top of that, I would say the price is quite high for NYX. I love Face and Body foundation from MAC. In Australia, you can purchase a 50ml one for AUD 50. I paid AUD 25 for this 13ml NYX foundation.

Disappointed, disappointed and disappointed!

I’m sorry, NYX. I have to say NO to this foundation. Certainly, I will not buy it again.

Have you tried this foundation? How do you feel about it? Let me know in the comments. xx

    • Thanks. Glad it’s helpful. Everyone is different, skin wise. You probably can get a sample. Just to try out and see if you get a better result. I wish I did that before I purchased it. Thanks for reading. 😘😘

    • Same here. I love their products. Quite disappointed this time. Thanks for stopping by, hun. xx
