New Favourite Red Lippy – Nars Le Palace Velvet Lip Glide | Review

Hey lovelies, Happy Friday! I have a short review for Nars Velvet Lip Glide today. Most of the days I am a typical neutral, nude lip colour type. However, I do love a red lipstick from time to time, especially in the cold season or a rainy day. A little bit of bright colour can change the mood and brighten things up.

A couple of weeks ago, I got Mecca beauty loop box. Among all the little goodies in the box for me to try, I found a mini size Nars velvet lip glide. The colour is Le Palace. You can see I love it so much that I got myself a full size one already. 🙂

Nars says this product is

Covetable comfort meets confident colour in a high-pigment formula that glides like a gloss, cloaks like a lipstick—and feels like nothing else. Semi-matte colour glides on a stays supple without drying or feeling sticky. Developed with Oil Infusion Complex, an innovative concentration of precious oils, fused to create a smooth-glide effect. Fully coats lips on contact with smooth, saturated, semi-matte style.

I agree with everything they said about it. It’s really not the usual liquid lipstick or gloss. The texture is creamy, smooth and non-sticky. It goes on the lips like a dream. I feel very comfortable to wear it even on my dry lips. It’s definitely non-drying and very hydrating.

The lasting power is not that great. I think it’s because of the non-drying formula. It also transfers to my cup when I drink coffee/tea. I need to reapply after a meal. Otherwise, it normally lasts about 3-4 hours on my lips.

The colour payoff is superb. The colour of Le Palace is described as a “deep cherry red” on Mecca’s website. On my lips, it’s more like a classic red with slight cool undertone. When you apply it, it actually gives you a shiny finish. After few hours, when the shine wears off, it leaves a velvet stain on the lips. Sometimes, I just blot it with tissue right after the application to get the semi-matte finish.

The packaging is very chic. It comes in a high shine plastic bottle with the Nars usual matte black cap and a doe foot applicator. The full size price is AUD 37.

The Verdict:

I love it, both colour and texture. The colour is definitely my new favourite red. I am happy with the texture and hydrating formula on my dry lips. I love the way not only it gives you a shiny finish like lip gloss, but also leaves a pretty semi-matt stain on the lips. I got the full size already as you can see from the photo.

Red lippies are my guilty pleasure. I’m like you and more of a nude lip kind of girl but every now and then I like to be bold. Nars is one of my favorite lip gloss lines!
