Two weeks ago, I went to our local Priceline shop to get some cotton buds. The girl who worked in the shop was so nice and sweet. She recommended the Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying Facial Mask to me.
It is $18 normally. However, I only paid $10 for it because there was a promotion in the store. For $10, I certainly wouldn’t mind to try it out. Who knows! I might just find the best clay mask ever. 😉
Manuka honey has been a star ingredient for skin care in the past few years. It is full of goodies. It is well-known that honey has antibacterial compounds help to heal and stop bacteria reproducing on the skin. Manuka honey’s anti-inflammatory property is great to treat acne scars. It helps to regenerate, repair cellular damage and nourish the skin. It also has anti-ageing effect. Sounds promising, right? 🙂
Key Ingredients:
Aloe Vera: calming, soothing, moisturising and antibacterial.
Kaolin Clay: detoxifying, reducing large pores, soothing and nourishing.
Manuka Honey: antioxidant, healing, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacteria and soothing.
Charcoal Powder: detoxifying and brightening.
Salicylic Acid: exfoliating, removing dead cells, and cleaning the pores.
98.76% naturally derived ingredients. Suitable for vegetarians. No palm oil. Not tested on animals.
My experience:
- Usage: apply a thin layer on clean and dry skin.
- Scent: light and pleasant. At least, I don’t mind the scent.
- Texture: not thick, reasonable liquid , very easy to apply.
- Finish: not drying, like many other clay masks. Easy to wash off with warm water. Skin feels clean and very well moisturised.
The Verdict:
I have to admit it’s quite enjoyable to use. It doesn’t give me the super tight feeling when it is dry like many other clay masks do. The mask dries after 10-15 minutes, depends on the thickness of the mask I apply. Very easy to rinse off with warm water. My skin feels refreshing, clean and hydrated. If you like a clay mask, you might want to check it out. I think the quality is quite good for a drug store skin care mask.
This mask sounds great, I’ll have to try it!

Will have to try it…always looking for a good mask. I’ve seen manuka honey in grocery stores for eating but haven’t tried it as a mask. Very neat! Love the photos too! When I put a mask on, everyone runs away from me from fright…you wear it beautifully. 🙂

Thank you, Karen. You are so sweet. 🙂 I have tried few masks with Manuka honey. In general, they are all pretty good. You can DIY a facial mask with honey at home, I think. I got a friend. She does it all the time. Seems pretty good.
