I wouldn’t say I am obsessed with lip balms, but I admit they have become necessities in my life over the years. I don’t remember ever I don’t have dry lips. No matter how much water I drink, they are always dry. If I am nervous or upset, they become drier instantly. Anyway, my desire of having soft and hydrated lips leads to a journey of finding the best lip balms. Here are my favorites!
Lanolips 101 ointment multi-balm (pear) – $13.95
I had heard good things about this lip balm before I tried it. It is made from lanolin. The company claimed that they use the “Ultra Pure Medical Grade lanolin” which is processed through “a highly specialized & patented” system. There is no artificial colors, no fragrances, no additives, no mineral oil, safe enough to use on babies’ mouth and 100% natural. The best part is that it can be used on dry cuticles, cracked heals, nails, paper cuts, insect bits and even your eyebrows. A multi-tasker. I like the pear flavor. It is very mild. The lip balm definitely keep my lips hydrated and nourished. The texture is quite thick. The only down side for me is it’s a little sticky on the lips.
Smith’s Rosebud Salve – Original – $14.95
I discovered this one about four years ago, and it’s multi-tasking as well. I love it so much. So I have one on my bedside,a tube in my bag and a spare one in my drawer. (Well, I am hopelessly good at misplacing my lip balms.) The ingredients include Cotton seed oil, aromol, essential oils in a special petrolatum base. I used to think the petrolatum dries my lips. However, in this case, it did not. It was formulated by the pharmacist George F. Smith in 1892 at the very beginning. I have also tried the Rose & Mandarin flavor. Somehow, the original one is better. It’s slightly tinted which gives the lips a hint of pink. Very moderately pretty! 🙂 Probably, the one downside is the tin packaging if you don’t like to stick your finger in it all the time. Then, there is the tube option.
Hurraw! Green Tea Lip Balm – $6.45
This is a new found and it’s a little gem. On their website, it says it’s “all natural, vegan, made from premium raw, organic and fair trade ingredients. Super smooth, not draggy, not sticky, not sweet, not too glossy, not too smelly, no grainy, long lasting”. For the green tea lip balm, there is also organic cold pressed Hemp oil with high omega fatty acids added, which makes it ultra nutritious and moisturizing. I have to say. It is the perfect lip balm I ever wanted, not sticky on the lips, easy to carry around in your pocket or bag, easy to apply and so many flavor options.
Nuxe Reve De Miel Ultra-Nourishing lip balm – $19.95
This is the one I keep on my dressing table. It’s the last step of my night skin care routine. It’s honey based with Vitamin E and highly concentrated precious oil. From Nuxe webiste, It says”at least 79.5% of the ingredients are natural, Paraben free formula” It’s non-sticky, matte finish and long lasting. It can work wonder on the lips. If I have chapped lips, I would put a thick layer on my lips before I go to bed. The next day, my lips normally feel super soft. I have tried to use it under a matte lipstick. It does prevent the dry feeling caused by the matter lipstick, but not as long lasting.
Maybelline baby lips Loves Color lip balm (Rose addict)- $3.95
This is good stuff if you want to skip lip stick but still want a bit of color to bright your face. the star ingredients are vitamin E and jojoba oil. It applies smoothly. Although it hydrates my lips, but I found it’s not very long lasting. I need to reapply very often. The scent is on the sweet side for my liking. Otherwise, it is a good tinted lip balm, non-sticky, easy to carry in your pocket or handbag. It has SPF16, which is a bonus.
Burt’s Bee Tinted Lip Balm (Honeysuckle) – $12.99
100% natural. I love Burt’s Bee’s lip balm. This one has a hint of color. It is non-sticky, and it applies smoothly. The star ingredient is Shea Butter which can nourish your lips and reduce fine lines. It also contain botanical extracts and wax, olive oil, coconut oil and sunflower seed oil. The feeling on the lips is quite similar to Maybelline baby lips, but I found it is more pigmented.
Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm – $49
This is the most expensive lip balm I ever bought, and I absolutely love it. Actually, I just bought a second one last week. Whenever I don’t know what lip color to wear, I use this one. It’s perfect for the summer. It keeps my lips moisturized and gives my lips a nice dewy pink color. Dior use the Color Reviver technology to release its color ingredient after the application. It reacts to our unique body chemistry. The color would be slightly different on everyone. The key ingredients are wild mango and luffa cylindrica. It has SPF 10.
These are my favorite lip balms. What is yours? Let me know. 🙂

I see. I might try that too, but I will probably lick the honey. That’s my problem…
